Woodland Healthcare has been a major supporter of the Woodland Farmers Market for the past few years.  In 2011 we partnered with WHC to move our Tuesday evening farmers market to their location on Cottonwood Street.  The goal of this venue change is to encourage more people to buy and enjoy fresh local produce. The Woodland Healthcare Foundation is also an advocate of enhancing the healthy lifestyles of their patients and their families, clinic and hospital staff, as well as anyone in the community. What better way for them to do this than by bringing a local farmers market to Woodland Healthcare. With easy access and plenty of parking, the new location is a win for everyone.

The Woodland Healthcare Foundation was able to financially support this new partnership due to a generous donation from Carole Pirruccello, Co-Trustee of the John and Eunice Davidson Fund.

Passionate, focused and motivated are only a few adjectives that describe Carole Pirruccello and her drive to enhance the public health of Yolo County. Having been a public health nutrition professional for more than 30 years, Carole has seen the long-term positive effects that a healthy lifestyle can have on individuals, families, and our community. As lifestyle is very much a factor in chronic disease development and management, Carole’s goal has been to enhance various local organizations’ efforts in public health and chronic disease prevention.

When Carole’s parents, John and Eunice Davidson, passed away, they left a lasting legacy for their children’s’ communities with the creation of  the John and Eunice Davidson Fund. With this fund, Carole and her sister, Diana Davidson, were given a mission to enhance their local communities through supporting non-profit organizations like the Woodland Healthcare Foundation.

“We never know when our health is going to change for the worse, so we owe it to ourselves to take care of ourselves as best we can and to support others that can make changes in the community towards good health,” explains Carole.

The Woodland Farmers Market is very appreciative of Carole Pirruccello’s support. With her help and the support of Woodland Healthcare, we are able to use this partnership to enhance the well being of our community by encouraging healthy eating, increasing knowledge about nutrition, and supporting our local agricultural heritage!
